| Within the world of guild wars, gold is the standard currency (although, players often use other sorts for trading). Unlike many other games within the same genre, it has actual value. This is due to the rarity of gold, it may appear to drop relatively often in quests but the amount is separated between members of the group; hence each character only receives a small fraction of the original amount. Even the original amount is nothing too impressive, 15 gold (before sharing) every 5 minutes is not a fantastically large amount of currency when comparing to games which drop 100 gold every few minutes. Nevertheless, each gold piece has more value than most MMOs. |
