GM's working for creators of MMO EVE Online have been accused of abusing their power.....again.

This recent accusations comes from an open letter posted to the GoonSwarm alliance website, Goon Fleet.

Let us begin with CCP Sharkbait joining the corporation "DarkStar 1" and giving himself director access. This was not preceded by a customer service request that would in any shape, way or form require a CCP employee to join the corporation. Less then one minute after joining the corporation, he added the role "Director" to himself, roughly fourteen minutes later, he leaves the corporation and surrenders the role.

The accusation comes from a former volunteer for CCP's program, Intertellar Services Department.

While the feedback from CCP has been neutral, an investigation is underway. Without an active EVE account it's impossible to read the official comments on the subject, but here's a link to the first part of the statement.

We are proceeding with our investigations into the four allegations brought to our attention - alleged misconduct on the part of two developers in separate incidents, removal of a volunteer from the program and bias within the event team concerning an event arc, the last an incident which has already been investigated in the past.

While we are not able to address all four incidents in this announcement, I would like to take the opportunity to report the results of one investigation, CCP Sharkbait joining a player corporation.

In the past, CCP Sharkbait has joined player corporations when CCP has been petitioned with issues and specific case bug reports.

While GM involvement in situations like this is always tricky, it becomes even more so when your playerbase is fanatical.

In the meantime, we wait for more news from CCP. Truly, a few bad apples can ruin the bunch. But when it keeps happening, it makes you wonder if your vocal community is causing problems, or if there is some kind of problem within the infrastructure!
